It provides real-time diagnostics in the following ways: a bar graph, a frequency graph, a 3D frequency graph, and an RPM or speed window. It can start recording before a road test and then play back the recordings when you return to analyze them, ensuring that the driver stays focused on the road. Saving logs with it is very simple, and like our other automotive software, you can easily save the files to your computer's hard drive.
The PicoDiagnostics® NVH package works with the PicoScope 4000 Series Automotive Oscilloscopes for vehicles of all configurations (inline, V-type; manual, automatic) to meet your needs (does not include the J2534 scan tool or VCI). Because software upgrades are free for life, there are no additional expenses, ensuring you can benefit from this investment. If you already own a PicoScope 4000 Series automotive oscilloscope, you're already halfway to owning this unit.

Although our NVH kits come in different configurations, they only differ in the number of sensors (microphones or accelerometers) they are equipped with. They are all used with a BNC cable to connect the interface box to the Pico Automotive Oscilloscope, and a USB cable to connect your Pico Automotive Oscilloscope to a computer running the PicoDiagnostics software. A stand-alone J2534 scan tool (EP134) or VCI (purchased separately) is used to provide RPM data, or to obtain RPMs via electronic signals.

The root cause of all NVH problems is vibrations. On the one hand these are unwanted or unexpected vibrations, on the other hand they are always present (e.g. engine combustion), but in any case they should not be transmitted to the driver or passengers.
Sound is actually vibrations transmitted through the air (or other media) that are “heard” when they reach the human ear. Although the intended range of hearing is 20 Hz to 20 kHz, most people can hear up to 100 Hz to 15 kHz. Vibrations are usually “felt” at frequencies below 200 Hz. In the frequency range of 20 Hz to 200 Hz, vibrations can be felt and heard.
To effectively handle these frequency ranges, the PicoDiagnostics NVH kit includes a microphone (for sound) and an accelerometer (for vibration).
Traditionally, NVH is a difficult problem to solve. Complaints about NVH are subjective because different people accept and feel differently about NVH. For technicians to effectively address this issue, they need the right tools and processes to diagnose NVH complaints objectively, reproducibly, and easily. The PicoDiagnostic NVH Suite is just such a tool, and generates a report for the customer showing that their complaint has been handled properly.
Setup Guide
Pico's NVH system has a series of wizards that guide you through the necessary equipment connections and vehicle information inputs before generating easy-to-understand test results.
The test system detects vibrations (and sounds), both frequency varying (wheels, engines, drive shafts, etc.) and frequency fixed (e.g., electronic cooling fans). Test results are presented in an easy-to-understand report and can be displayed in a view that suits you.
Complete with help files explaining causes and solutions, the software offers features that allow you to easily diagnose problems with a logical approach, ultimately revealing the root cause of the problem. The same functionality allows you to present test results to your customers to verify the effectiveness of your fixes or repairs.
