測試共使用了13台MSR記錄儀，該記錄儀配置內部三軸加速度感測器、內部濕度感測器和一個用於擴充記憶體容量的4GB micro SD卡插槽。該記錄儀仍可在運輸過程中以最大1,600Hz的測量速率記錄長達3天的連續測量值。降低測量速率可以延長最長執行時間。為了能夠充分利用 SD卡的儲存容量，記錄儀使用時應啟用迴圈儲存模式。
Statistical analysis showed that gait and breed type had a significant effect on the results. There was no overlap in the range of values for the gaits, so that the gaits could be clearly differentiated when considering the Pony and the Large Horse separately from the Icelandic Horse. The validation results show that the MSR145 DataCORDER is clearly suitable for differentiating gaits in horses. Due to the high measurement accuracy, the acceleration sensor is a favorable alternative to conventional pedometers.
