Kvaser Air Bridge Light HS M12 (FCC)

The Kvaser Air Bridge Light HS M12 is a no-configuration wireless CAN bridge that connects to a CAN network using the dust and water resistant M12 connector.

The device consists of a pair of pre-configured plug-and-play units with integrated antennas and a ruggedized housing, the Kvaser Air Bridge Light HS M12 ensures fast exchange of raw CAN data in situations where a wired connection is unsuitable or challenging, e.g., when CAN cables are subjected to high-environmental abrasion conditions.

The Kvaser Air Bridge Light HS utilizes a proprietary 2.4G radio and frequency hopping mechanism that controls the data rate, radio packet format, output power, and pairing method to achieve predictable latency without sacrificing stability or range. The transmission range is up to 70 meters with a maximum data rate of 1200 messages per second and a packet delay of 4.8 milliseconds. This feature makes Air Bridge effective in infrastructure and control applications, especially where precise message delivery times are required, and in some cases is a viable alternative to fiber optic cables.

There are two versions of this device: (01141-0) Kvaser Air Bridge Light HS M12 is EU certified and (01148-9) Kvaser Air Bridge Light HS M12 (FCC) complies with US certification. Both versions are functionally identical but have different radio transmission schemes due to regulatory differences.
