Monitoring relays protect people and machines from insulation faults, residual voltage, overvoltage, undervoltage, overload and overheating, and monitor static and active power, significantly reducing the exposure of people and machines to hazardous conditions while extending the life of the equipment.

- Monitoring relays can monitor the pulp fiber production line. In the paper production process, electrical appliances are usually controlled by an inverter, which can only measure the total current, not the current consumption of individual motors. By connecting a monitoring relay upstream of each motor and measuring the power consumption similar to a higher level process control transmission, it is possible to make very precise measurements at low frequencies and monitor individual motors precisely at process level.
- In addition to current measurements, the monitoring relays also record the operation of the transmission belt drive motors and transmit them to higher-level control units. Compared to inverters only, the use of monitoring relays makes foundation control more resistant to interference and ensures that data processing can be carried out in the central control unit while the equipment is measured in a decentralized and flexible manner.
- In addition, the monitoring relay can also control the inverter, which is usually controlled by signals from the PLC. If the monitoring relay is connected between the PLC and the inverter, the control signals from the PLC can be monitored, thus improving system safety.

- For some production lines where the temperature of the machine tool is more stringent, it is necessary to turn on the ventilation equipment at the same time when the machine starts up to ensure stable production. The monitoring relay HK-E3IF500 current measurement module can measure the current consumption of the machine and turn on the external ventilation when the current is greater than 500mA, and the monitoring relay can conduct a maximum current of 16A, thus making it easy to control the whole system with just one switch under a high continuous current load without the need for additional current transformers. This makes it possible to control the entire system easily with a single switch without the need for additional current transformers even under high continuous current loads.
- On lathes and other machines, the chip conveyor usually collects and transports the waste from the lathe. In case of overload or blockage, the chip conveyor system has to be shut down automatically, and the monitoring relay HK-G2IM5AL20 can detect the load status of the conveyor system by monitoring the current consumed by the drive motor and shut it down quickly and reliably in case of overload or blockage, thus avoiding the delay of manual operation and extending the service life of the chip conveyor. This eliminates delays in manual operation and extends the life of the chip conveyor.

- Similar to the above applications, monitoring relays can also be used in other scenarios, e.g.: when pulverizing different materials in a shredder, if the roller chopper is clogged, an abnormal current will occur.
- A monitoring relay can be connected to the PLC and the present values of the different materials can be stored in the PLC. A current measurement converter measures the current of the tool holder drive motor and provides a simulated signal to the PLC, which compares the stored and measured values and shuts down the machine if necessary, thus minimizing production downtime and protecting the motor.
