
HMS Networks has expanded its second-generation Anybus® Communicator™ family of high-performance gateways, enabling more data to travel faster in industrial applications. Thirteen new versions bridging EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, PROFIBUS, and PROFINET networks make it easy to connect control systems, eliminate automation silos, and maximize operational performance.
This fall's new family members also utilize the award-winning Anybus NP40 industrial network processor to power the gateways, ensuring that the communicators meet the demanding requirements of industrial environments in terms of performance, reliability and security.
The new Anybus Communicator is able to transfer data in real time with a data input/output cycle time of about 2ms. The extremely low latency is even negligible, as it is within a reasonable range of jitter in data transfer times.
Compared to the old model's cycle time of 20 milliseconds, this means that the new gateway is up to 10 times faster than the existing one. Users can also benefit from significantly increased data exchange support, as the gateway can transfer up to 1,500 bytes to and from a connected PLC to the gateway.

A new experience for automation engineers
- From a physical point of view, the new gates are slimmer and can be easily installed on already very crowded tracks.
- All ports are located on the front of the unit, making it more convenient to use and easier to monitor.
- There is an Ethernet configuration port at the top of the machine, which means that no special cables or drivers are needed. Simply plug in a standard Ethernet cable and enter your computer, then launch your web browser to reach the configuration interface directly, even without installing any software.
- In the setting and user page, ANYBUS uses the latest network technology, it will load the whole web page in the first time, and only a small amount of data will be loaded in the next time you enter, this user interface operates like a normal web page, but it will not let you have any delay in switching pages or operations, because most of the data of the web page will be loaded in advance in the first time you enter!

Comprehensive means of information security defense
- New Secure Activation Function: In the future, when loading new firmware into the gateway, the new firmware will need to be signed by HMS, and if it passes, the firmware will be accepted, thus preventing malicious firmware from intruding into the gateway.
- Physical Protection: When the switch is toggled to the locked position, HMS will shut down the WEB server in the product, which means you have to manually update the access rights to reset the gateway settings, and an LED will light up on the body of the gateway to let you know that it is in the locked mode.
- Production Line Ports: Used to load software and test products, they are disabled at the last stage of the production process to ensure that malicious firmware cannot be loaded in this way.
Application

1. Network to Application Program - PLC Gateway
Anybus Communicator can be used as a connection between PLCs running on different industrial networks, transferring data over any combination of almost any industrial network on the market. There is no need for special external cables, software or difficult training programs.
2. Serial Application - Serial / CAN Gateway
With Anybus Communicator, you can easily convert virtually any Modbus RTU, ASCII or user-specific RS-232/485 request/response or production/consumer network protocol. In addition, Communicator does not require PLC function modules or any other superfluous programming.
