Why do I need to monitor the humidity in my server room?
Humidity is related to temperature. The warmer the air, the more water molecules it can absorb. Air conditioners and heat exchangers that extract heat from the air change the relative humidity. Of course, there is always the risk of broken pipes or water damage.
The ideal relative humidity (RH%) for server rooms and data centers should be between 40% and 60%.。
An environment that is too dry causes static electricity to build up in electronic equipment. Air that is too humid causes corrosion, both of which lead to higher wear and failure in the long run.
