NEC ALM series lithium-ion batteries for industrial applications, the ALM series delivers high performance, high output and fast charging, it has an extremely long battery life and offers wide temperature and safety for use in harsh industrial environments. It has an extremely long battery life, offers wide temperature range and high safety, and can be used in harsh industrial environments.The ALM12V35i series has a built-in Battery Management System (BMS) to check the internal status of the battery, making it ideal for AGVs and robots. In recent years, the demand for connecting lithium batteries to PLCs has increased due to the growing requirements for communication and monitoring by robots and unmanned guided vehicles (AGVs), which emphasize the monitoring of power, voltage, current, temperature, etc. The ALM12V35i series has a built-in BMS (Battery Management System) to check the internal status of the battery, making it ideal for use in AGVs and robots.

Solution - Anybus X-gateway CANopen

The ALM12V35iHPCAN operates using CANopen. The Anybus X-gateway CANopen gateway connects to a master control device such as a PLC to realize communication between the battery and the PLC. By using Anybus X-gateway CANopen, CANopen data can be imported into the PLC without changing the PLC program. The Anybus X-gateway CANopen gateway operates as a slave function of a host computer such as a PLC and as a CANopen master function on the battery side. Setup on a PC using the free configuration tool and the Ixxat USB-to-CAN module. Since it involves no programming, it can be connected in a short time.
