Industrial Protocol Conversion] Anybus gateway connects to EtherNet/IP, PROFINET and other networks.

I. Case background

Nagel Precision's machine equipment is an EtherNet/IP-based control system with Allen Bradley PLCs, often with Rockwell Kinetix 6000 multi-axis servo drives as the key core. However, since the honing machines are exported to factories all over the world, Nagel faced the problem of how to communicate with other networks-especially PROFINET, which is often used by automotive manufacturers Nagel Precision tried a third-party NIC as a solution, but found that not only was the NIC a good choice, but it was also a good choice.high costTroublesome and Complicated ConfigurationSometimes the corresponding specification model cannot be found.

II. Customer Demand

  1. Cost Effective
  2. Easy and simple configuration
  3. Supports a wide range of communication protocols in the field

III. Solutions

If the Honing Machine is to be installed in a factory running EtherNet/IP, it can be directly connected and communicate with the network. However, if the factory is running another network (e.g. PROFINET), an Anybus X-Gateway is required.

The Anybus X-Gateway gateway acts as a converter between EtherNet/IP and the factory system and "translates" parameters such as positioning data, drive status, start/stop commands, and so on. The communication flow between the two sides of the gateway is transparent and independent, so that the honing machine, as a separate node in the factory shop, is fully able to communicate with the entire factory network.

Key performance

  • Affordable

Anybus X-Gateway gateways offer more cost-effective pricing than the market, significantly reducing factory hardware configuration overhead.

  • Simple Configuration

Anybus X-Gateway gateways are configured in the same way and can be quickly and easily configured on different communication networks! There is no need to spend a lot of time researching gateway settings.

  • Full support

Anybus X-Gateway gateways support all common industrial fieldbus and industrial Ethernet networks, includingProfinet, EtherCAT, PROFIBUS DP, EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, CANopen, Modbus RTU/TCP, POWERLINK, SERCOS, CAN FD, SERIALThe communications protocols.
