National Taiwan Ocean University utilizes Comet U3120 for more accurate temperature monitoring in the Delta Star cabin!

I. Project Background

The Department of Marine Engineering at National Taiwan Ocean University (NTOU) is comprised of three major areas of expertise: marine engine room, power machinery, and electro-mechanics. The development of the department focuses on sea, land, and air system engineering, with engineering applications such as simulation and analysis, maintenance, troubleshooting, assembly and testing, and measurement and verification.

The Department of Marine Engineering at Ocean University needs to monitor and analyze the temperature inside the cabin of the Tamar Star, which is about 30-40 ping in size and has an ambient temperature of 40-50 degrees Celsius. In order to ensure the stable operation of the equipment inside the cabin and the safety of the staff, a total of 6 points of temperature recorders need to be placed to monitor and record the values in real time.

Honghong Solution: The Comet U3120 and Comet U0111 with SN105E temperature probes are used in this project, which are IP67 rated and can operate stably in high temperature environments, and are the perfect solution for the temperature monitoring needs of the Ocean University.

1. Realized Functions.

The solution utilizes Comet U-Series temperature recorders, which enable high temperature resistance and high endurance recording modes.

The U3120 is a built-in temperature and humidity recorder that can be monitored in environments ranging from -30 degrees to +70 degrees Celsius and has a data logging capacity of 350,000 strokes to satisfy the need for long-term stable logging.

-The U0111 is an external temperature logger with 350,000 data logging strokes. The temperature of some areas in the cabin is higher than 70 degrees Celsius, and a 2m temperature probe is used, with a range of -80 to 200 degrees Celsius, which fully covers the user's measurement needs.

-After measurement, the data can be exported through Comet Vision data analysis software for easy archiving and saving.

2. Mainframe Installation: To ensure the stability of the mainframe equipment and ease of operation for the staff, the mainframe will be mounted on the beams and walls using industrial double-sided adhesive. If the site allows the use of screws to fix the wall mount, then the LP102 wall mount can be used.

4. Equipment Introduction

(1) U3120: Built-in temperature and humidity sensor, designed for measuring environmental temperature and humidity logger. The device is connected to a computer via a Type-C connector for setting and data export. The device continuously evaluates the alarm limit of the measured value, and if it is exceeded, it can be notified by sound or light signal. Each measurement channel supports two alarm limits. At the same time, the LCD display shows the measured value, alarm and other device statuses in real time.

(2) U0111: external probe type temperature recorder, according to the environment and the actual needs of the selection of suitable temperature probe, probe protection level up to IP67, cable length up to 10 meters. Connect the device to a PC via the Type-C connector for setup and data export. The device continuously evaluates the alarm limit of the measured value, and if it is exceeded, it can be notified by an audible or visual signal. Each measurement channel supports two alarm limits. At the same time, the LCD display shows the measured value, alarm and other device statuses in real time.

(3) Temperature probe: multi-purpose waterproof IP67 temperature probe

Measurement range -50 to 200 degrees Celsius, with a minimum measurement temperature of -80°C in the sensor section for stationary use.The probe is designed to measure the temperature of gaseous and liquid substances. The lead-in cables used are silicone insulated and shielded. The probe is designed for universal use and the method of use must be selected according to the temperature and chemical resistance of the housing and the lead-in cable. Cable lengths of up to 10 meters are available.
