Vuzix\u00ae Corporation, a leading provider of smart glasses and augmented reality (AR) technologies and products, announced that its smart glasses have been selected to support a new collaboration between healthcare technology specialists Global Health Education Group (\u201dGHEG\u201d) and the University of Leeds, one of the largest higher education institutions in the UK. Global Health Education Group (\"GHEG\") has developed an online learning tool that aims to dramatically improve clinical training opportunities for students in the healthcare sector, accessibility, and quality at the same time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vuzix Smart Glasses Enable Students to Remotely View and Participate in Patient Care Processes<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clinical internships and health education in hospitals are a necessary and vital part of the educational process in healthcare systems around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The recent shortage of such clinical internships and training opportunities has created a bottleneck in the development of health education globally, which in turn is hampering the efforts of the 10 million health care workers who are already actively working to address the health care shortage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A new online platform, developed by GHEG in partnership with the University of Leeds, will allow the wider healthcare and medical student community to participate in clinical medicine placements at the same time, regardless of the distance between clinicians and patients and each student.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This solution has been designed by GPs, clinicians and researchers at the University of Leeds Medical School and will be extended to remote areas, hard to reach sites and environments to enable more students to access clinical training and opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now that the solution has been tested with the help of medical students, the second phase will be a feasibility study and a trial with patients. Overall, the ultimate goal of GHEG and the University of Leeds is to expand the use of the solution to partner universities locally in the UK and globally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
